The Killer brand is co-owned by Akira Takasaki, a heavy metal legend in Japan. So naturally, Killer guitars are focused on producing tone and comfort innovations for shredders. Mostly producing explorer or superstrat style guitars, the Marquis deviates from that to provide a metal alternative to a LP build.
The Marquis immediately stands out with a unique body profile. It is crafted entirely from mahogany, offering a unique tonal profile. Also quite unique is the electronics on this guitar. The "SW" system, featuring Volume and Tone Cancel options, enables precise control over the output, including a subtle reduction in high tones.
The neck boasts a wheel rod nut for easy relief adjustment, contributing to enhanced strength in areas prone to headstock breaks. Additionally, the GOTOH Magnum Lock Pegs ensure minimal tuning issues.
Equipped with an H-S-H pickup configuration, this guitar is versatile across different music genres. The control setup includes 2 Volume and 2 Tone knobs for the humbuckers, along with an ON-OFF switch for the center single-coil pickup. The VOL and TONE Cancel switches further refine the sound output, delivering a clear and direct tone. The thoughtfully designed jack plate orientation allows for convenient shielding attachment to the strap during live performances.
